To improve access to quality and affordable medicines to millions of Filipinos, the Sanofi-Aventis Group, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, recently launched its generics arm, Winthrop Pharmaceuticals Philippines Inc.
Winthrop is driven by a commitment to contribute to the reduction of healthcare cost. “The Winthrop brand is in response to the public clamor for more accessible, affordably-priced quality medicines,” says Mito Raagas, Winthrop’s Business Development director.
A global generics company, Winthrop addresses major health needs in therapeutic areas such as metabolic, cardiology, thrombosis and pain. It is currently present in 22 countries throughout Europe, Asia, South America and Africa and intends to expand rapidly in other countries.
Built on the enduring strengths of the Sanofi-Aventis Group, the new generics company guarantees the highest standards of quality not only in terms of product efficacy and safety, but also in terms of strict manufacturing quality control.
Winthrop was recently launched to the medical community in Bacolod and Cebu. Keynote speaker was Undersecretary Teddie Rivera, president and CEO of the Philippine International Trading Corp. (PITC-Pharma), who lauded Sanofi-Aventis for supporting the government in its generics campaign.
